earth day activity free worksheet for elementary students

Earth Day is an annual holiday celebrated around the world on April 22 to demonstrate support for environmental protection. Everything from planting trees, to growing flowers, to recycling and promoting clean energy. It’s a great day to focus on teaching kids about recycling, reusing and simply reducing waste! Recycle those water bottles, reuse those grocery bags! Or maybe even start a composting project. There are many ways to help our planet. Simply using less water by taking shorter showers or baths can help.

You’ll be surprised how much kids can get into these little projects and lessons. For an easy activity to teach your kids the many ways to promote loving our beautiful earth, I put together an I Spy Earth Day sheet. It consists of many different items and ways you can help protect Earth on this day and many days go forward. Enjoy!

All about the free I Spy Earth Day sheet:

The I Spy worksheet consists of 14 different Earth Day objects! The Earth, recyclables, plants, flowers, the sun, water….many items that promote keeping our Earth clean and plentiful. This activity shows the number of objects that are on the sheet, so your little one knows exactly what to look for and how many.

Also, this is in black and white! So what does that mean? It’s easy on your ink and therefore saves you a little cash at the end of the day! On top of that, being black and white allows your kid to color! Instead of crossing each item out (or circling) he/she can color the items in as they find each one. So, all in all this is a fun, stimulating and affordable Earth Day activity for home or in the classroom. Teacher, are you looking for an extra Earth Day to send or hand out to your students? Just download and forward on!

Go ahead and laminate

I recommend laminating our I Spy activities. Why? Laminating gives the activities a bit more permanence. You can also use dry erase markers to cross off the items you find in your free I Spy printable! So, when you’re done looking you can easily wipe off and use the I Spy sheet over again without reprinting.

I don’t use anything fancy or complex, just a simple and easy laminator. This is the laminator I use and recommend.

Below is what will be included in your download (see the bottom of the page for actual download instructions):

Amazon has always been my go-to for most of my office and craft supplies. If you print a lot of printables and spend  time coloring, gluing and adding some extra jazz to them, our list of supplies can help!

I’ve split the list up into a basic list and a fancier list if you’re going to put a little more pizazz into your printables.
