Fall is here and people are starting to rake leaves, eat and drink pumpkin spice foods, and make Fall crafts.  A favorite Fall craft of mine has always been scarecrows. They are charming, cute and have an appeal that is undeniable. If you enjoy a good scarecrow craft our Scarecrow Template will be a fun one to give to the kids. Use the Scarecrow Template as a Fall Classroom Craft

Welcome the Fall season into the classroom with our Scarecrow Template. A perfect autumn craft for preschoolers, kindergarteners or first graders. 

With scarecrows you can celebrate the Fall season without getting Halloween involved. Yes, I love Halloween, but some people don’t celebrate it and would rather celebrate something a bit more neutral, like Fall. Our scarecrow crafts are perfect to use for that Fall craft you’re looking for whether you’re using it at home or in the classroom.

Another great idea to use in the classroom are our coloring pages! Use the coloring pages as a break for students in between lessons. Print out a bunch and put them in a basket in the back of the classroom for kids to pick up and grab. For Halloween we have 22 Halloween Coloring Pages or 10 Terrific Turkeys.

Use the Scarecrow craft as Halloween decorations

There is nothing better than decorations your kids have made.  They have that adorable personalized messy charm to them. Use this scarecrow printable as a decoration template. Laminate the Scarecrow printable & turn it into a fun game

I love laminating mix & match crafts. I laminated a couple copies of the scarecrow printable, cut the pieces out and my kids loved mixing up all  the scarecrow items and then randomly pulling them out to make a silly scarecrow consisting of both outfits! Laminating them gives them a bit more permanence and allow the items to slip and slide around on a table for added fun!

Materials Needed for the Scarecrow Template

• The Scarecrow Template (Choose boy or girl, or do a mix of both!)
• Round-tip scissors
• Crayons, markers, colored pencils (to color the black & white version)
• Glue stick

Instructions on putting the Scarecrow printable together:

Let’s walk through how to put the scarecrow craft together!

1. First print out the scarecrow template (choose the color or black & white version).

1. 1. If using the black & white version, color the scarecrow in your favorite fall colors.
   2. Next, cut out all the scarecrow parts.

4. Start off with laying one of the wood sticks vertically.

5. Take the other wooden stick and make a “t” shape with the two sticks. This is when you can start using the glue stick to glue each item on to the last item.

6. Now glue the shirt on top of the two wooden sticks.

7. Glue the dress onto the shirt so the front straps line up to the top of the shirt.

8. Glue the large straw piece to the underside of the bottom of the dress.

9. Glue the head on top of the shirt. Line it up so it closes any gaps you may have between the shirt and dress straps.

10. Glue the straw hands to the backside of the shirt cuffs

11. Glue the hair to the top of the head.

12. Glue the hat on the head. I gave mine a little tilt to show a bit of more style to my scarecrows outfit.

13. Lastly, glue on the scarecrow’s scarf (make sure he/she stays cozy!)

14. Done! Use it as decoration or hang it on the fridge!

For this scarecrow craft, don’t worry about cutting along the lines

If you feel like some areas of the scarecrow may be a little more challenging to cut than others, don’t feel like your child or student need to cut along the lines. My daughter (toddler) cut out the boy scarecrow and left some jagged lines and white space and it still looked awesome! So imperfections are actually perfect!
