free printable christmas gingerbread craft

Who doesn’t like to make a gingerbread man (or woman) during the holidays? It’s one of my kid’s favorite Christmas traditions. They especially like the decorating part. Unforunately making these little guys takes time, creates a big old mess and isn’t something we do more than once during the holidays. So, when the kids are wanting to make Christmas cookies when it’s not time yet, or maybe you already make them and they want to do it again…simply bring out this craft to entertain them for a good chunk of time! No, you can’t eat them, but they’ll be just as fun and rewarding to make.

This is also a great craft for children who need a little practice with scissors. This craft is simple and great for a preschooler through elementary school student. Cut out the gingerbread person and all the accessories and simply glue them together. Print out a few to make a few different Gingerbread people in different outfits. Here are some ideas of some gingerbread people you can make:

Need some craft supplies?

Amazon has always been my go-to for most of my office and craft supplies. If you print a lot of printables and spend  time coloring, gluing and adding some extra jazz to them, our list of supplies can help!

I’ve split the list up into a basic list and a fancier list if you’re going to put a little more pizazz into your printables.

Go ahead and laminate

I recommend laminating all of our Build activities. Laminating gives this craft a bit more permanence. Kids can put the craft together over and over again without worrying about having to cut and color each time. I don’t use anything fancy, just a simple and easy laminator. This is the laminator I use and recommend, you literally just turn it on, it heats up, and you’re ready to start laminating anything everything!

I’m also a big fan of the self-sealing laminating pouches! They are super easy! You literally just place your printable in a letter size pouch, run it through the laminator and you have a sealed and long-lasting item!

Also, if you do choose to laminate, stick little self-adhesive velcro dots on the laminated pieces so your kids can attach and reattach easily. This eliminates the use of any messy glue!

The gingerbread activity is available in a black and white version (so kids can color) and it also is available in a colored version. Includes:

  • 1 gingerbread person
  • 4 pages of accessories to dress him/her up!

Below is what is included in your gingerbread craft download (see the bottom of the page for actual download instructions):

Size: This is a PDF and prints out on 8.5″x11″ standard size letter paper.
