In Kindergarten, one of the key goals for the children is to learn to spell and write, often starting with their name. When my daughter was in Kindergarten, I remember her having to trace her name over and over again. I thought to myself “You’re practicing writing your name, again?!”
But we all know that practice makes perfect! Since Fall is here and Halloween is approaching, I thought it would be fun to add a bit of both to a name tracing activity.
All about our free Pumpkin Name Tracing Worksheet Activity:
Our name tracing activity is Fall/Halloween themed. It features small pumpkins, each with a traceable uppercase letter inside. The purpose of this activity is for the child to practice spelling and writing their name. This activity is available in both uppercase and lowercase letters so your child or student can practice capitalizing the first letter of their name and using lowercase letters for the remainder of their name.
Here are step-by-step instructions on what they need to do:
- Find the letters that make up their name (if their name has more than one T, for example, simply use a blank pumpkin to write out another T.
- Trace the dashed letters to practice writing their name.
- Cut out the pumpkins (a great activity to practice with scissors).
- Glue/paste them onto the vine (the 3rd page).
- Viola! They have their very own personalized pumpkin patch!
This name tracing activity is a great remote/homeschooling craft for Preschoolers and Kindergarteners. Not only does it promote practice in writing uppercase letters and spelling their name, but also the use of fine motor skills by coloring in the lines and using scissors.

I was really excited for this and then saw it was all uppercase. As a preschool teacher we really want kids to start writing their names with a capital letter and then lower case letters. It would be great if you had lower case pumpkins also. Love your resources!!!!
Hi there! Thanks so much for your comment. :) I went ahead and added the lowercase letters to the printable. If you request the activity again you’ll see it has been updated so now it includes both the uppercase and lowercase letters. I also sent you an email with a direct link to the activity. Thanks again and we’re so glad you’re enjoying our resources! :)
Thank you! I appreciate it so much!!! We will be doing the activity this week ❤️
