Build-a-Cheetah Craft for Kids Printable

Cheetahs are incredible animals – super fast, agile and simply majestic. Their lean and long bodies allow them to run at high speeds, giving them a greater chance to catch their prey. Did you know they often run into their prey to catch them? As you can guess, I love sharing  fun facts about cheetahs – they have always been a “big cat” favorite of mine. So, let’s celebrate the magnificent cheetah with a Cheetah craft for kids!  And yes, I have more fun facts about Cheetahs for you!

All about the Cheetah craft for kids

Our cheetah activity is a fun and easy animal template that can be used for an art project for kids to color and make their own cheetah. 

It also acts as a great cheetah kindergarten craft. This “big cat” craft promotes creativity and individuality, by allowing children to choose which colors to make their cheetah. It also gives that preschool or kindergarten student a chance to practice with scissors. Encourage them to color their cheetah blue or purple if they dare! Then with a little bit of glue or paste they can put their cheetah together and enjoy their masterpiece. 

We can also add our cheetah activity to our zoo animals – including a zebra, bear, fox and penguin! Did you know, there are roughly 250 cheetahs in zoos across North America?

Fun Facts About Cheetahs

• Cheetahs can run up to 75mph and are the fasted animal on land!
• Cheetahs have between 2000-3000 spots, which are solid black circular marks
• They have tear lines (the black fur that runs from the insides of their eyes to the nose), which help reflect the glare of the sun when they are hunting during the day.
• Cheetahs can’t roar – they growl and purr instead!

Go ahead and laminate

I recommend laminating all of our Build activities. Laminating gives this craft a bit more permanence. Kids can put the craft together over and over again without worrying about having to cut and color each time. I don’t use anything fancy, just a simple and easy laminator. This is the laminator I use and recommend, you literally just turn it on, it heats up, and you’re ready to start laminating anything everything!

I’m also a big fan of the self-sealing laminating pouches! They are super easy! You literally just place your printable in a letter size pouch, run it through the laminator and you have a sealed and long-lasting item!

Also, if you do choose to laminate, stick little self-adhesive velcro dots on the laminated pieces so your kids can attach and reattach easily. This eliminates the use of any messy glue!
