Ideas to use the squirrel craft
Here are a few ways you can use our awesome squirrel template.
Use as a classroom fall activity
Did you know the squirrel is actually associated with the fall season? In September and October acorns drop from the trees and squirrels start gathering for the winter months. Our squirrel printable is the perfect kindergarten or preschool craft celebrating the beautiful fall season.
Print out the squirrel template and get to work decorating your fall animal.
Use as a squirrel coloring page
Not only can you color the black & white version of our squirrel template. But, our printable squirrel comes with a free squirrel coloring page! That’s right, bonus!
Maybe your students just want something to color? Or maybe there just isn’t enough time to color, cut and paste? Use the squirrel coloring page for an even easier activity to keep those little ones busy and having fun.
Use the squirrel template to practice with scissors
There are a few parts to cut out in this squirrel craft. This is a perfect preschool craft to practice with scissors. Practice with straight lines and curves with this craft.
Tip: I suggest cutting out the parts in bigger pieces and then take those pieces and attempt to cut along the lines. Cutting the parts out in bigger pieces at first will allow you to grab hold of the parts, making cutting along the lines an easier task.
Laminate the squirrel craft
Before we begin the craft, I just want to recommend laminating this little guy! I recommend laminating all of our build animal crafts. Why? They turn into forever toys when you laminate. Laminating takes literally 2 minutes. After you cut the pieces out (like you normally would), use velcro dots to connect the pieces together. This method allows your children or students to put together the animal crafts over and over again.
Store your animal crafts in a storage container and take out for an activity. Children can mix and match animal parts to make some silly and unique animals!

- Start out by gluing the ears to the back of the squirrel’s head
- Glue one leg to the back of the body, allowing it to point out to the right.
- Glue the other leg to the top of the body.
- Then glue one arm to the back of the body (pointing to the right).
